Jaime Zapata (Quito, 1957). An Ecuatorian artist whose style has included elements from the different dramatic currents of Western art. A painter of astonishing skill, he has devised ways to mock reality, such as turning the anatomy of a model upsidedown in order to make us believe that one area of the body is another (in this volume) or convince us that we are looking at Great Master paintings when in reality they are scenes of living human bodies (volume 2).
